Nominees sought for Regional Wellness Councils

YELLOWKNIFE ( March 11, 2016) — The Minister of Health and Social Services, Glen Abernethy, is seeking nominations for appointments to Regional Wellness Councils across the Northwest Territories.

Regional Wellness Councils are new and are being established to ensure residents from across the Northwest Territories have the opportunity to provide input into the territorial health and social services system. These groups will help inform policy and programming decisions across the territory.

Centering Pregnancy Program finds success in Yellowknife

(YELLOWKNIFE, March 31, 2016) The Centering Pregnancy Program, an evidence-based group prenatal care model, is helping to support, educate and connect women in Yellowknife throughout the stages of their pregnancy. The program replaces the conventional “one-on-one” prenatal care model, with groups of parents who meet together with health care practitioners.


Glen Abernethy: Pharmaceutical Action Plan

Mr. Speaker, an equitable and sustainable health care system is one of the priorities of the 17th Assembly. One way we can support this priority is by improving the management of pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Speaker, to date, provincial and territorial governments have each made significant efforts to address the challenges and manage pharmaceuticals in a way that maximizes patient health outcomes while contributing to system sustainability.
