Adoption is the social, emotional and legal process that results in a child becoming a permanent member of a new family.

If you are considering adopting a child or placing a child up for adoption, or have already adopted a child and are looking for information on supports available, YHSSA has a variety of ways of helping you.  If you were adopted in the NWT and are interested in finding your birth parents, check out the adoption registry.

For more information contact the Foster Care and Adoptions Social Worker at (867) 767-9122 and/or check out the Adoptions page on the Department of Health and Social Services website.
